ESB - Strategy Activation

The ESB strategy Driven to Make a Difference: Net Zero by 2040 is an innovative plan to mitigate the impacts of Climate Change.

ESB approached Veri Connect to assist with activating this strategy throughout their 7,000 strong workforce.

Driven to Make a Difference: Net Zero by 2040 is designed to align actions and decisions with the ESB’s purpose and values. This strategy directly supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which provide a global blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030.

By decarbonising the electricity system and using clean power to replace fossil fuels in sectors such as heat and transport,  ESB will be a key enabler of a zero-carbon energy system.


Challenge

To Activate the ESB sustainability strategy Driven to Make a Difference: Net Zero by 2040 throughout multiple teams and departments.

The required programme outcomes were:

Solution

Veri Connect partnered with ESB to develop a self-directed Sustainability Essentials training programme.

We created an engaging 1 hour self-directed training programme (compatible with all platforms). This served as an introductory module on ESB’s sustainability journey, aligning with the STEP programme.

  • Simplified complex sustainability concepts using animation
  • Designed a badge-based certification system
  • Connected to ESB’s Navigators programme for CPD opportunities.
  • Delivered using Veri training management software
  • Ensured compliance with relevant legislation

Result

Trained 7,000 employees in Sustainability Essential training, embedding a Sustainability Mindset and developing behaviour that culminate in achieving strategic goals.

  • Engagement – 2,400 employees voluntarily within first 10 weeks of the programme

  • Universal Design – animations and voiceovers made complex topics easier to understand.

  • Scalable & Accessible – use of the universal SCORM eLearning format of the programme content ensures easy deployment across ESB’s learning platforms.
